This book begins with essays on the importance of Gardnerian Wicca as a world religion, then presents a painstaking transcription of all the pages in Gardner's own Book of Shadows. These pages were sent in the late 1960s by Charles Clark, Gardner's last secretary, to Carl Weschcke at Llewellyn. Isaac Bonewits, then the editor of their journal Gnostica, recognized what they were and sent me working copies of them. I have published analyses of them and made a simplified transcription of them avaiiable online, but this edition will make the exact wordings of his BOS accessible to nonspecialists. Many Witches now would structure and fill up their BOS quite differently, but his has the special quality of being the first of its kind. Read more
